Do you have a bad habit of people pleasing, disregarding your own capabilities, and not recognising the value you can bring to the table?
This then resulting on you missing out on opportunities, feeling undervalued, or becoming overlooked or spoken over; not just in the work environment but also in a social setting?
A lot of other factors could also come into play such as your upbringing, cultural background, company culture, and personality. But these should not be excuses.
What is important to start with is to know who you are, discovering what makes you 'tick', and creating your own brand.
It is important to acknowledge your uniqueness, accept, and embrace it. Michael Gervais, coach for champions, writes "Be respectfully weird. (That probably means, be you.)". In his article, he went on to list down these simple steps to live out your version of you:
Create your own personal philosophy.
Share that with a loved one.
Memorise it.
Practice it.
Take sometime to go through these steps. They are worth peeling off the layers and discovering your core.
Ponder on this: When you try to be overly conscious of what other people think, you are subconsciously allowing yourself to wither.
Final thought: You deserve to thrive.
